Samsung Galaxy Unpacked: What to Expect from the Upcoming Event

The next Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event is likely just a few weeks away, and we anticipate the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, Galaxy Z Flip 6, Galaxy Ring, and more. However, I’m betting we’ll also hear significant updates about Samsung’s advancements in artificial intelligence, specifically through Galaxy AI.

While AI will undoubtedly enhance Samsung’s fitness and wellness devices and software, I’ve been contemplating how smart software could transform the company’s next-generation foldable phones.

Based on rumors, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 will be a minor upgrade over its predecessor, while the Galaxy Z Flip 6 should receive a slightly more significant update. However, to stand out among the best foldable phones, Samsung will need to leverage AI in their software offerings.

Integrating AI into Foldable Phones

It’s logical to assume that many of the Galaxy AI features found in the Samsung Galaxy S24 series will migrate to the upcoming Galaxy foldable phones. Expect to see tools like Generative Edit and real-time translation make their way to these devices.

I hope that tools like Generative Edit will be easier to use with the additional screen space on a foldable display, particularly the Fold 6. Even on the excellent Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, editing photos can be challenging, and more screen space could enhance the usability of AI-powered editing and productivity tools.

Enhancing Productivity with AI

The Galaxy Fold phones are already excellent for productivity on the go, thanks to their larger screen space, suite of Google work-centric apps, and solid virtual keyboard. I’ve written entire articles on a Galaxy Fold, but I want more.

I’d love to see AI integration in the Galaxy Z Fold 6 that simplifies multitasking. This could include automatically suggesting smart layouts for multiple apps rather than relying on manual positioning, which can be cumbersome.

Additionally, I’d like AI to improve predictive text on Samsung’s keyboards, which can be hit-and-miss. AI could also help organize apps in the app drawer and on the home screen, arranging them based on usage patterns for better accessibility.

Optimizing the S Pen with AI

While rumors suggest we won’t see an integrated S Pen holder in the Galaxy Z Fold 6, I hope Samsung leverages AI to enhance the S Pen’s functionality. This could include features like Circle to Search, which can search for information within a large circle, and smart conversion of scribbles to text and art.

Introducing New AI Features

I’d like to see Samsung use the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and, to a lesser extent, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 to introduce brand-new Galaxy AI features in addition to those already available.

Samsung will need to innovate in AI to compete with Apple Intelligence, which is expected to gain momentum with the launch of iOS 18 and the rumored iPhone 16, likely arriving this September.
